Hola Piñata (JAM Version)
As the Unidos Village was getting ready to celebrate, an unfortunate event interrupted the preparations for the party.
Kaboooooom!
Sadly, all the pinatas have been scattered and the party is in danger .
Help the villagers collect all the pinatas before the party starts!
This small game version has been created for the Unidos Hispanic Heritage Month Jam 2022.
The theme selected for the jam was "Supporting Others". This theme first triggered the idea of having people helping each other in order to reach a higher level goal, all together and in a positive mood. The first draft was a human tower reaching a pinata.
I decided to implement game mechanics showing people supporting each other, collaborating even when playing solo : multiple characters to control, with several small goals allowing the team to reach the ultimate goal : the pinata.
My personal challenge here was around efficiency and quick decision making: I participated alone, and only had 2 and a half day to spend on the JAM, to do what I usually do in at least 4 days.
If you liked the game and spent 5 nice minutes playing it, and want to support us... the best way is to share the game to some friends, as well as to follow us to keep informed about upcoming releases. Arcade Eleven is a young game development studio, consisting in 1 guy and some casuals friends/guests/contributors. Leaving a comment is always a great source of motivation, and it also helps us to see if there's an interested in going further with the game.

Very charming game, the physics / controls felt a little hard to use at points because of the walk speed but it was so charming I just couldn't stop :)
Thank you for the message !
Improving characters physics / controls and characters uniqueness should be the focus of the first potential patch.
Very happy that you liked the atmosphere and the game.
The game is interesting, big characters can support or push other characters, small characters jump high and run a lot, in addition to being able to climb, I think it could have more stages, but from what I saw you did it in 2 days, this is impressive , but one thing that bothered me was the speed of the characters, I found them very fast and that's why it's difficult to make a precise jump, unless you want to generate frustration in the player or challenge him, but if you don't want that it can generate frustration in the player, there's a bug that I want to report, when I jump on top of a character, sometimes I could jump and sometimes not, as it's game jam, I understand having bugs, but as it looks like you want to take this project going forward so I'm already giving feedback, the art and music turned out amazing, the idea of the menu to destroy the pinatã is cool, if you continue with the project you could make puzzles that the little character has to go through a entrance, see using a button that will open the door for the big character to pass, you can also make the big character push an object that activates a button for the small character to pass or make the character jump on the pushed object and get to the pinata, it's a fun game that has potential, good luck to continue.(Sorry if my English is bad, I'm Brazilian and I'm not fluent in English, so I'm using google translator)
Thank you for the feedback. 👍
Totally ! Having some "Lost Vikings" mechanics would be a great addition to the game. There was a plan to add some mechanics like these, with doors, buttons and sneaky corridors (with the little guy), but this was too ambitious for a solo JAM.
Even if time was a bit short, this is what I like in JAM too. Releasing fast and having feedbacks soon, like yours, are great. If feedbacks about the game are positive, there should be a patch released soon, with a focus on making every character really unique and better balanced, as well as some more levels.
Glad that you liked the art and music, creating a positive and rhythmic gameplay was the key aspect for this first version🎶🎶🌞🎶🎶
